the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness

Nathan Tekle receives his award from David Tenney at the conclusion of the November mass.

The character trait for the month of November was “gratitude”. Students are nominated each month by their teachers and peers who believe that they are an exemplary depiction of that month’s character trait. This month junior Nathan Tekle was honored with the Gratitude award.

Nathan was extremely excited and mentioned that he had heard rumors about people nominating him but he had no idea that he was going to win and he extremely honored.

According to David Tenney, assistant principal, Tekle has been nominated for past awards including humility and kindness, but he took the gold in November. While Tenney was speaking about the winner before mentioning his name Tekle said he figured out it was him. When Tenney mentioned that he always says “thank you very much”, he recognized his signature saying.

When asked what Nathan recommended to future students that might want to win student of the month, he encouraged people to get out there and be open with others. He suggested that you get on good terms with all of your teachers. Nathan also encouraged more people to participate in the nomination process since it really helps make a difference in the voting and decision making process.

Overall, Nathan Tekle is very excited and gratefull to have won this award.
