Pallotti Girls Swim Team won, on Tuesday, the IAAM C Conference championship last evening at Notre Dame Prep. Pallotti defeated second-place Catholic High 470 – 409 winning six out of eight individual events and all three relays.
St. Vincent Pallotti’s 200-yard medley relay team, junior Kaylen Hurst, senior Molly Cronin and freshmen Malea Burroughs, and Lola Adegbemileke, finished more than three seconds off their seed time in the C Conference championship meet at Notre Dame Prep on Monday.
The Panthers still posted a 2:07.92 in that first event to go on top in the team chase and went on to easily claim their second title in four years. Pallotti set the pace ahead of Catholic High, Annapolis Area Christian School (335), St. Timothy’s (235) and Beth Tfiloh (214).
Pallotti simply had too much star power to be caught, considering that the Panthers won individual titles behind Cronin in the 200 individual medley (2:27.07) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.89), freshman Laila Webb in the 50 free (25.56) and 100 free (58.08), Burroughs in the 100 butterfly (1:06.55) and sophomore Lauren Watson in the 500 free (6:01.56). Moreover, they also won the 200 free relay (1:56.17) behind juniors Akilah Jeffries and Rylee Roberts, Adegbemileke and Webb before taking the 400 free relay (4:01.08) with Cronin, Webb, Burroughs and Watson to finish the meet with a bang.
Team captain Cronin, who said that she plans to swim for Hood College next winter, ended her Pallotti career with four breaststroke and three IM championships.
