On Thursday, March 14 the Foreign Language Department hosted their annual Foreign Language Honors Society Induction ceremony. Students who have reached level 3 in their language and maintained an A or a high B were rewarded with an invitation to be inducted into the honor society. Friends, family, and faculty gathered in support of the students and their hard work.
Mrs. Emilie Shipman, Department Chair of Classical and Modern Languages, started the night off with the French inductees. Seniors Jason Hamilton and Kevin Xie, Juniors Dominic Gambogi, Ruby Hariston, and Alexis London, and Freshman Tomiwa Olagoke-Bello, were all accepted into the society.
Veteran members were also their to pin the new members and help formally induct them into the society. The new members received a pin and a lit candle to solidify the induction. After all the names were called, the current and new member recited the society pledge in unison.

The Spanish Honors Society followed. Senior Alyssa Savard filled in for the ailing Ms. Sandy Boch. Juniors Olivia Charles and
John Lorditch; Sophomores Colby Cureton, Norlian Lambe, Skylia Day, Emily Springer,
Isabel Mendoza, Orianna Moore, and Anna Pham; and, Freshman Ariel Wise, Cheyenna Umsot, Leigha Anderson, and Gabrielle Hendricks were all inducted into the society. Just like the French, the new members received a pin and a lit candle to solidify the induction. Once all the names were called, the new and current member recited the society pledge in unison.
At the end of the ceremony there were refreshments served to the audience. Families took pictures and people socialized until the night was young.
Moore said afterward, “I am proud of myself and I know it will open doors for me in the future. The ceremony was very nice. I got to hear some interesting information about the French and Spanish societies. it was short too which was nice and the refreshments were a plus “
